Born in 1982, Alexey Chernov began studying at the Central Special Music School of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire at the age of four. He studied there with N. Rogal-Levitskaya, Kira Shashkina, and Natalia Troull. He continued his studies with Vanessa Latarche at the Royal College of Music in London from which he graduated in 2011.

Calabria International Piano Competition (Italy 2010), 1st Prize at Jaen Francaix International Piano Competition (Vanves, France, 2010), 2nd Prize at First Sussex International Piano Competition (UK, 2010), 1st Prize and Special Prize at the Spanish Composers International Piano competition in Las Rozas (Spain, 2009), 1st Prize and audience prize at Morocco International Piano Competition (Casablanca, 2009), 1st Prize and Audience Prize and Special Prize at Scriabin International Piano Competition (Grosseto, Italy, 2009), 1st Prize at the Muse International Piano Competition (Santorini, Greece, 2008), 2nd Prize at the International Scriabin Piano Competition (Moscow, 2008), 2nd Prize at the Emil Gilels International Piano Competition (Ukraine, 2006), 2nd Prize at the Parnassos International Piano Competition (Mexico, 2006), 1st Prize at the International Piano Competition (Minsk/Belarus,2005), 4th Prize at the Unisa International Piano Competition (Pretoria, South Africa, 2004), and 6th Prize at the Vianna da Motta International Piano Competition (Lisbon, 2001).
Alexey has performed as a soloist with conductors Enrique Batiz, Alexander Sladkovsky, Mikhail Pletnev, Ravil Martynov, Dmitry Orlov, and many others. He performs in concerts and at music festivals all over Europe and Russia.
