Born in Trieste in 1982, Lorenzo Cossi began studying piano at the age of seven. He obtained his diploma at the “Conservatorio di Musica G. Tartini” in Trieste with full marks and honors, in the class of Giuliana Gulli. He has also studied with Nino Gardi.

In the summer of 2005, he studied with Joaquín Achúcarro at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He also studied with E. Virsaladze at the Sermoneta International Music Campus in Latina (Italy) and with William Grant Naborè at the Lake Como International Piano Academy.

He has performed in Italy, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, France, the USA and many other countries in such important venues as the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Canada, Hahn Hall in California, Fazioli Concert Hall, Teatro Sociale, Auditorium S. Barnaba, and Sala Puccini of Milan Conservatory in Italy.

In 2001, he was invited to participate in the Music Academy of the West Summer Festival in Santa Barbara, California where he studied with musicians such as Jerome Lowenthal, Kathleen Winkler and the Takàcs Quartet for Chamber Music.

He has participated in many international piano competitions. In 2006 he won 3^rd Prize and a special prize for Bach interpretation at the “Rina Sala Gallo” International Competition. In 2009 he won 2^nd Prize (first prize not assigned) at the International L. Gante Competition in Pordenone. In two consecutive editions he was selected to be among the finalists at the F. Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano, where he reached the solo finals. In 2012, he won a special prize for the best Italian contestant at the 58th Maria Canals International Competition in Barcelona, Spain.

Recently, as part of the E. Honens International Competition in Calgary, Canada, he performed Brahms’ Piano Concerto No.1 with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Roberto Minczuk.

He often performs in chamber ensembles. Since 2009 he regularly performs with Italian cellist Marianna Sinagra.
