Matthew Liu has been studying piano for eight years and is currently a student of Professor Jack Winerock at the University of Kansas. Recently, he won first prizes at the Kansas City Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition, the Chopin International Competition in Hartford Connecticut, the Paderewski International Piano Competition, and the IPPA Conero International Piano Competition. He was a Solo Round Competitor at the 2021 Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition. He has performed at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, Ward Recital Hall at Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., and the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City. He has performed concertos with the Midwestern Chamber Orchestra, the Topeka Symphony, and the Kansas City Symphony. In addition to music, Matthew plays tennis and chess and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
