49 official competitors (25 Junior, 24 Young Artists) gave outstanding performances at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center over 2 weeks in June. The Gina Bachauer Competitions feature no requirements of repertory therefore each competitor was free to display their artistry and virtuosity. Each competitor performed two 30-minute solo rounds before the International Jury selected 5 finalists for each competition. The Junior Finalists performed a concerto movement with concerto accompanist Alexandra Nguyen. The Young Artists Finalists performed a concerto movement with the Utah Symphony under Rei Hotoda at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City. Nearly $60,000 US in prize money was awarded to the finalists.
